Just driving AlNiCo speakers hard causes them to degauss some. It won't totally demagnetize them, but they won't perform to their original spec. I understand theaters had regular yearly maintenance of sending out drivers for regaussing.
This is far from true. Matter of fact, among common speaker magnet materials, AlNiCo is one of the LEAST susceptible to heat degaussing.
