That’s actually very reasonable for what it is - I think I’ll drop him a line once I decide what bass would be best. I’m thinking my Sterling 5H.I’m not sure what the range is, but a quick chat via Facebook or email is a blessing to his day. He loves to do this stuff. Still, I think I read somewhere that the basic pattern, something shine, sorry the Florentine pattern is like $240. After a number of design changes and discussion, the one on my bass was $250. That included shipping... all in. Plus, there were a few “Case candy” things included. Took about 2-3 weeks from start to on my bass.
It’s kind of apparent in the photos and such, but this is a thin wood bottom-think veneer, with stainless steel on top, bonded together with a serious amount of some kind of resin. It’s really cool and well made. I mean, it’s a pick-guard, but it’s really well made. It was a drop on perfect fit for my bass. No trace this or copy that. It just fits.
I can’t overstate how great he is to work with. I sent him completed photos and he called me to make sure I was 100% satisfied and loved, not liked, loved what he did. And, I do.
Question: both examples here are on a black bass. Is it showing the finishes underneath or is there a black plate underneath the meatal guard?
Those are amazing! I don’t want to bug him - what is his price range? I’m thinking a Tree of Life would look good on one of my basses...[/QUOT
The first layer is thin wood. The black is on top of that. I have one black and one where the grain of the wood shows through.

I love that gold PJ one. I almost did that same pattern and color. I went with a Flower of Life with a cool pentagon detail on it. It was $320. It's going on a Sire P7. Talking with Alper for an hour was a real bonus.
