Double Bass Altering an existing adjustable bridge to allow for lower action

Last year I had a new bridge fitted, and though it's adjustable and can go fairly low, I'd like to be able to take it further...perhaps 3 or 4 more mm. My question is this: can an adjustable bridge be cut down a bit further in some way (either a bit off the feet, a bit off the legs where they meet the adjusters, a bit of the crown...perhaps all three) to allow for lower action?

I usually take it out of the legs, though I try to stop short of making them look like a sumo wrestler in crouching position!

Whichever end has the threaded wood, take the material from the other end. Make sure the geometry is unchanged as the disk must lay perfectly on the wood. An adjustable angle table against a stationary sanding machine is what I use, as well as a carefull lay-out. 3 or 4 mm is a lot, and makes me suspect other issues.
