Alternative to "Fender" basses

That's what I heard also. There are other great options, but I was seduced by it being a matched P/J set and that it includes the solder-less control set. The comparatively low price didn't hurt either.

The other two are the Rio Grande, Muy Grande, which is my absolute favorite and Duncan SPB-1

This is another one of those cases in which someone wants a specific kind of bass, but immediately eliminates the most obvious and arguably the best answer. There's a reason why so many companies knock off Fender basses. To my mind, having the original makes the most sense - you're getting what all the others are copying, some successfully, some not. So I'm just going to say a Fender American Standard Precision V. Anything else is a wannabe.

The OP's budget is $500. That might get a used highway 1 or American Special if he's really lucky, but an AmStd P-V is a quiet a bit out of range.

There's alot of basses that out-Fender Fender or offer a possibly-preferred version at all the Fender pricepoints. Fender is fine, but I'd never recommend someone go directly to Fender until they've considered the other options.

Hi guys..

Bad news.. or maybe good ones...

The money that I had for the new bass I spended buying a Fender Rumble 200 amp..

So,.. I'll keep my "Quest" bass..

By the way,.. I'll need to setup it properly,.. has the action at the nut very high: 1,15 mm (almost 3/64") or this is ok?

I say VM jazz bass, they look really cool and I hear they sound great too and all for $400 or less.
