I learnt it in History - I can't take the credit.
I think what is interesting however, is that this is the sort of thing you really need to know - where history is actually important - whereas who cares about the court of Louis XIV or Napoleon's battle tactics?

But the history of sanitation doesn't appear in most school curriculums - it was part of lecture on this subject that I attended at University - which was because we had a specialist in this subject. He was introduced as - a guy who knows a lot about ****!!
