Am I Beibg Scammed ?

I'd carefully remove the paint from the headstock. I've had luck with a Magic Eraser taking newer paint off and leaving the original decals behind. Just go slow and make sure you're only getting the newer paint off and not cutting too deep.

Looks like a cool bass.

Welcome to TB.Excellent and optimistic attitude.I hope this trade ends with a fair or favorable outcome for you.
IME Squier CV basses can meet or beat Fender MIMs in a fair fight.And with those tuners,and upgraded parts,and set up is to your satisfaction its a fair $$ trade if not a win for you IMO.

If nobody said it yet... Welcome to TB! Personally I enjoy doing exactly what you did. Clear out some of the old and unused gear and bring in something different. Sometimes It's a good deal, othertimes it's just a fun change.

The first thing I thought when I saw the painted headstock was teenager owned or stolen. Sorry. I know that's a downer but... If you had a pic of the neck on an angel you might be able to see the serial # under the Fender logo. Unless it was removed.
Looks like a good basis for mods at the very least. And you have some actual Fender hardware which is cool. Look in the cavities to see if the body wood is visible. Neck pocket, back of neck for markings too. Back of the pickups might have the model numbers that you can do a Google search on too. I would guess, by the looks of it, they probably didnt rough up the finish on the headstock prior to painting so you might even get it off with Goo gone or even a clear antibacterial hand sanitizer gel. We've had so much of that stuff around I've been finding other uses for it! (Great on clogged inkjet printer carts) Try that prior to anything with grit. The sponges will dull out finishes. If you do use the sponge use light pressure, just as much as is needed to get the paint off.
Bottom line - as long as your having fun. It's exciting and we could all use a little fun these days.
And take it easy on the poor guy. Jeez. He's excited.

Hey there everyone !just received and played it so Quick update !

First of all, i scratched the headstock. Obviously, like i thought and like many of you said, its a squier CV 70s.
Anyway im quite impressed how cool and good it feels to play and it sounds.
I removed the ashtray, set the action (it was really really low.)

But it obviously was pretty badly stocked. I first thought headstock has bien changed or reglued, you still can see laquer finish has been redone poorly, and seeing all these marks makes me wondering if i can put it on my wall stand without being afraid.

If done well, glue joints can be stronger than wood. But why tempt fate?
