Am I Crazy? Bought an Ibanez SR300 Today.

I saw a used newer SR300 at the music store today for $160. Thought it played and sounded good. Figured it would be a good bass to have for those rowdy bar gigs and to let the kids fiddle with. I actually thought it sounded good though...Help! LOL

Ya know, I hadn't picked up an Ibanez in years. You're right! I was pleasantly surprised. It really doesn't sound great. I'm ashamed of myself. All those years, and all that wasted money on other basses I bought, didn't like, and traded or sold.

SR300 are easilly among my fave basses soundwise. I like them better then some of tjhe more expensive soundgears. Once you get the style sweeper dialed into its sweet spor for you, the bass and treble controls when used are msore useful. Only thing I dont like about the sr300 is the bridge saddle screws are too narrow for the saddle holes which results in some of the saddles slowly riding downward from string vibration. Untill some locktite or similiar is used to fix that.

I have an SR300 and love it. Red with a maple Neck. I've been complimented about it's sound and looks by a couple bass guitar instructors.

put some MK4's in that thing will sound better than most SR

I used to have one and liked it. I recently bought an Ibanez Gio GSR-206, which is their low end 6 string bass. It splits time with a Carvin Icon 6 that cost four times as much. I actually think the Ibanez plays better, and sounds as good (but in a different way - cheap Ibanez pickups are surprisingly good sounding.) The Carvin only beats it in looks, with flame maple top and abalone inlays, and in materials and workmanship, but the Ibanez isn't that far behind.

In short, Ibanez makes really good quality low priced bases that are certainly gig worthy. Good basses for the price.

You are not crazy, if you liked it then that is all that should matter.

Update us when you try and use it in a band situation. Biggest issue I had with those were cutting in the mix. Love the necks though.
