Am I crazy?

I am wondering if I am okay. I am about to have a milestone birthday and my wife asked me if I wanted a new bass, anyone I would like. I thought about it and checked out basses here on TB and other places on line. I thought maybe a Lakland Hollowbody or a Rickenbacker? I have a Classic 50's Precision that I love, it is the only functioning bass I have. When I thought about it I decided I didn't want another bass, I'm very happy with what I have. That's why I'm wondering if I am okay.

How's your amp situation? If your wife is willing to spend that much for a Lakland or a Ric, then maybe she'll spend for an amp.

Good suggetion I thought about that too. I currently have a GK MB1500 and a Workingman's 15 that I will probably sell. I play every week in a small church and the GK is plenty, plus I like some of the growly tones and sustain I get from it. It's 200 watts and it weighs around 36 LBS.
I thought about the new Fender Bassman head but once again I just decided I really like what I have now.
I read about G.A.S. here all the time but I am happy to see I am not that unusual being happy with one great (IMHOP) bass and amp.

Hey, definitely not crazy. It's awesome that you feel complete. If you change your mind and wanted to get another bass as opposed to amp. Have you considered a fretless p or j that could provide a totally different tone and likely change your approach differently. You don't have to go top shelf either. I love my GK 700RB so going down GK path is a solid direction for you. If you stand pat and pass, just another testimony to me why I love the P, so versital beast. Can cover so much ground. Happy birthday dude.

Funny you say that. My wife got me the new Bassman 100T/410 Neo cab a few months ago for my 60th birthday, which isn't even 'til December! Now I've got my GK 800RB for ss side, the Bassman for the tube side, and I'm loving it! Not trying to talk you into spending money, but it is a totally different vibe from the ss. I still like my GK as much as ever, but I'm now liking the Bassman better, especially after using it on gigs. You may have owned tube amps before, but other than borrowing a Bassman and an SVT for several months back in the mid 70's, this is my first, and it's actually more than I expected, or remembered. Just sayin', nice option to consider. How are we so lucky to have women like this?

Thanks train, yeah we are lucky. I''ll head out to my local music store and check out the bassman. I used to play only guitar and used only tube amps. I still have my favorite , a 58 tweed champ. I have alway played bass on SS but I should at least check out the tube amps.

Well, I'll go along with the sentiment that "it's awesome that you feel complete." But if MY wife asks ME that question, I have a short list of candidates for her to shop from.

That makes the 2 of us, BRNSTSSL love my P but if my wife offered me chance... Have a few in mind as well.
