Am I the only one that hates Fruityloops?

I think FL is a pretty cool program. I've recorded a few songs with it, and have been pleased with the results. I had to find some samples to use though, cause I like the sound of acoustic drums.

Only thing I can't figure out is, how to mix time signatures. How do you put a mesure of 7/8 in a song that's in 8/8? Please don't tell me it's not possable!

Fruityloops can best be describe as the most "User Friendly" of the group of tools in this category.

Years ago FL was very pedestrian, it was a tool for tweakers, not for serious musicians. Slowly it is becoming a better product though, they have a studio producers edition. Now that it supports VST's it is a program with some level of decency. I have not tried it in years though but if its VST support is adequate I see no reason why it wouldn't be ok.

Personally, I own Cubase because thats what I decided to use and now I am comfortable in it but I would be lying if I did not say that it was probably possible to do most things bar record in fruityloops.

As has already been said, it is a sequencer, it has samples, you want nice drums you have to go out and buy/acquire sample cds. Be careful though, lots of sample cds, very hard to find what you want. If you want nice sounds you need to engage in some education on how to install and program VST's.

As far as hate goes, I can understand it but lets face it, it is probably predicated on what fruityloops was like before. Assumably it is becoming decent now.

HOW?!? I recorded my album using FL a lot (yeah it makes it sound techno, but I was being experimental) and I would make seperate drum tracks at seperate time signatures and splice them together. Also, can you mix tempos?

I'm using Fruity Loops Studio 4, in the window named "Snap" pick "Beat" instead of the defult "line". This setting determines where your beat will line up on the grid in the playlist view. Now what ever time signature you make your sequences, you can just line them up to each other, instead of having to be stuck in the grid.

In the left hand corner of your step sequencer there is a window where you can scroll up or down the beats per measure value.

edit. I know you can mix tempos, I ran into it on accident. But I haven't needed yet to figure it out for real. It's in there though.

just uploaded some new stuff to my avalible space. Check out "Torn" it's a song I recorded over the weekend. I use measures of 6/8, 7/8, 8/8, and 9/8. Also got a chance to use my fretless, and my 7 string guitar on this recording.
