The picture was taken from outside the atmosphere, no air to scatter the starlight.

Thought it was fake or photoshopped at first. Almost looks like a very bad 90's video game graphic.

I'd bet that it was retouched in one way or another. Or shot with filtered lens.

We have a large 30,000 acre Wild Fire going on now in the in the mountains just north of LA. As bad as it is, all that smoke makes for spectacular sunsets. I took this one last night. Even the ground was glowing a weird yellow orange color.
