Wish I knew

The Roadrunner photo? Any place in the Sonoran Desert. They are amazing birds...so dinosaurian. I see them on most bike rides. They are excellent hunters and prefer lizards. Lizards out here are fast so the Roadrunner has to be faster. And more clever. They move like almost no other bird. They do fly but it is fairly rare. When you see one fly it is always cool.

I was surprised this past weekend when I saw one at about 8200’ in the pines of the Chiricahuas. I didn’t think they went that high. But it has been so dry this year; perhaps he had to travel farther than usual for a tasty lizard.

Oh, those blue-bellied lizards are common in the same mountains, so perhaps the photo was taken out ‘round there. But there are lizards like that in other places out here In the Sonoran Desert.
