In the asteroid belt….

False-color and normal view of Ceres from the Dawn spacecraft showing differences in surface materials. The bright spots are salt deposits left over from when salty water (cryomagma) reached the surface and evaporated. New research shows that subsurface reservoirs of salty meltwater existed on Ceres for millions of years.
