Amazing Photos

I've heard that a rampaging hippo is the most dangerous land animal anywhere. I don't know how true that is, but I wouldn't want to be in its path! I've also heard that a hippo can easily - easily - bite a human's head clean off.

I wouldn't say this is particularly amazing, but I didn't think it would go well in the "Post pictures of your pet" thread. I call this one "Entropy - Birds Are Dying." It wouldn't work without the hand-rolled cigarette butt. Notice the diagonal elements in the composition and the semi-monochromatic color scheme. The exposed aggregate adds texture, and there's a hint that you're close to the edge. It's art, but art you have to think about. This was in Berlin.

You're absolutely right. It's not an amazing picture.

I'm not sure where this comes from, I'm agreeing with your statement "I wouldn't say this is particularly amazing, but...".

I don't see anybody else prefacing their photos with all the technical artsy mumbo jumbo that you felt necessary to justify it. I think you're well aware it doesn't fit in here—otherwise you'd have just let the image speak for itself—as you did with your other post here (#1329), which, by the way is a pretty amazing shot.

When you've got a pre-dead (post-live?) cat, you might as well lighten things up a little bit. When I was working on a project in San Jose (when I wasn't at Groom) for a year, there was a deceased cat in the road that got flatter each week I went up there. I called it "Sail Cat" but the project geologist called it "Little Kitty." It eventually returned to dust, and probably now is part of a cow nearby.
