If I recall correctly, it was taken in the early 50's at the Bikini Atoll in the South Pacific to see what a nuke would do to a navy fleet. Thus, after the test, some marketing guy came up with the Bikini style swimsuit name and the name has stuck ever sense. I guess you can say both Nukes and Bikinis are hot.

I thought it might have been but i've never seen that shot, in colour or black and white.

I never never noticed before but in the nuclear test shot it looks like an entire ship is being carried skyward, in the rising column far right. Wow.
