Amazon: Genz Benz Combo STL6-0-12

Hopefully a fellow TB'er was able to snatch one up!

I ordered one friday @ the $669 price.

The head itself is typically around $650, so the cab is basically thrown in (which goes for about $550 itself). Screaming deal!

I'm looking forward to reusing the amp sled on a future diy fEARful or BFM Jack. The Genz 12t will take up residence in my rehearsal room at home.

Sadly, no shipping info yet. Estimated delivery is May 5th-7th.

Give it a day or two. I've been watching it daily for a few weeks while awaiting my tax refund. Everything fell into place for me last week. It's popped up like that a few times.

I've got an Eden WT500 that is broke. I need to get a new amp. I've never heard a Genz Benz before, let alone this model. Sounds like a great deal, but I wonder if I'd be pleased with the tone? I've been looking at a used Markbass LMIII, a Markbass SD800 or LT800.

None of the stores near me sell it, so I haven't played through one yet. I considered the LMIII, the TC RH450, and the genz streamliner 6. I decided to go with the shuttle partly based on reviews and reputation, partly on how awesome this combo is (375w @ 8 ohms / 600 @ 4, total weight around 30 lbs for the combo, 3.75 lbs for the detachable head), and finally price.

I've heard nothing but good things about Genz Benz in terms of service, support, and product quality.

I intend to get my eden refurbished as well though. Despite being underpowered, it is still one of my favorites of all time.

I just received mine from Amazon.

The 14 industrial staples on the top of the box had been previously opened and a few pieces of packing tape were holding box loosely together... Inside was hard to tell if this was in fact a refurb/open box. It did have a warranty card and manual.

Did anyone else receive theirs and have prior use issues?

Amazon was selling these several months ago for this crazy price and I bought one then. Mine arrived in perfect shape; no sign of it being used/refurb/return/etc. It has been flawless since then and I gig it often.

I would call Amazon CS and tell them about it and say "I paid for a NEW one and that's what I want".. or ask for a discount for a "used" one.
They will send a prepaid return mailer..

Decisions, decisions. Now I've gotta decide between this and a used LMIII and GK Neo 410. The latter is $100 more to my door.

Good news- I finally got a taking number from Amazon, looks good for friday delivery.

I got mine on Friday. Right out of the box with no adjustments and playing my Spector CRFM5, it sounds great! As others have said, very tight bottom end. Beyond that, haven't had any time with it.

Mine arrived a week ago Friday, looking brand new. As soon as I started playing it though, I realized I had an issue with the 12" driver. Had a crackling noise coming from it at all levels. I tried another amp just to eliminate that, same. Called Genz, and they offered to send a replacement cab, which is scheduled to arrive tomorrow. After just a few brief questions, they had an RMA number for me. It was late on a Friday - maybe 10 til 5 their time, but they handled it very nicely. It got delayed a bit in transit due to the flooding in the South, or it would have arrived sooner, I'm sure.

Now since then, I've played it a few times, and it seems fine. ?! I'm assuming there was something sitting against the woofer, like packing material or a chunk of glue or wire insulation. It may have fallen loose when I rolled the cabinet onto its side or something. Whatever, there's a spot in the tolex on the back that isn't optimal, so I'll still send it back.

Whatever. I've made up an extension cable (since the combo cabs don't have jacks, just a short speakon ended cable out the top behind the amp), and have a speakon coupler that I will use to try out both cabs together before sending one back.
