American Standard Jazz Bass V

Cool bass! If it plays anything like mine you're gonna love it.

I've got the Candy Cola with the maple fretboard model from 2011. The reason I went with that one was because it was the best player, so color had nothing to do with it. Since day one that bass hasn't needed any kind of setup. Only once I had to tweak the truss rod about 1/8 of a turn.

Ah yes....saw-chatter marks on the edge of the fretboard. My 2009 '62 RI P had exactly the same thing.

I don't want to put a downer on the OP's obvious joy at buying a new jazz bass, but it really is encouraging to see that Fender STILL haven't got it together four years later...:rollno: A shining example of their lack of Q control in the fretboard-sanding department : I tell you they deserve all the criticism they get.

Other than that ...Nice axe

(ps...I sanded the fretboard on my 62 RI. My favorite bass)

Well, I got mine. I'm partial to Maple fretboards, otherwise pretty much the same bass. Great player! Great B string! Articulate, with consistent tone, all the way down the fret board!! I set up the action and intonation myself, but they were easy to dial in. I've found "the one" for me.

I think Fender finally got the 5 string bass right!

So it seems that I'm not the only one who isn't totally liking the color / fingerboard combinations that Fender is using for the American Standard Jazz 5. I've been seriously thinking about getting one myself, but alas Fender doesn't make an American Standard Jazz 5 with a black body and rosewood fingerboard.

So, I have to ask: how did you get a sunburst body with the maple fingerboard?
