American Standard Pbass

Hi, justin I just got a 09 am std mia pbass. I see that you own the same bass aswell. Im really digging it, though i wished the neck can be abit less wide and more chunky instead.

The tone is great with the stock PUs, but Im always open to options of swappin PUs to enhance the tone if its possible.

How do you think the am std pbass compare to the other Pbasses? This is actually the first fender pbass i own, ive tried quite afew and this is one of the best ive tried.

I love standard am std P's. So good, really. The neck is a little small for my taste as well, but they sure sound great the way they're making 'em these days.

My older P's just sound a bit more interesting. The new ones can be a bit too transparent and even...I think my older ones tend to have more cool stuff going on harmonically.

I posted this up on the pup forum, but I'll say it here too....... I just put in the Fender '62 pup into my '08 MIA P, and it's very nice..... much less transparent, and all that interesting P harmonic stuff is there now. I went back and forth on which pup to get.... SD Antiquity, Fralin or the Fender. My local shop had the Fender pup in stock, so I haggled a bit, and threw it in on Saturday. Vintage tones for sure, and much cheaper than the Fralin or SD. Try it out!

I built a p bass from parts last year, and I put in the '62 pickup, and it really sounds fantastic. The '62, plus some old Fender flatwounds has made for a very vintagey sounding bass.
