Amp advice please !

Hi guys,

I'm fairly new to bass and have a limited knowledge of amps. I want to upgrade to a good combo. It would only be used for small venues. Being light weight would be an advantage. The one I have in mind is the EDEN Nemises 210. I've read mixed reviews about this and would be grateful for some more opinions.

I've played one of the older Nemesis 2-10 combos and it was quite allright for lower volume gigs. Not the tight, modern sound that more expensive combos can get or huge, clean high volume. but not bad. I didn't get one only because I was able to find something I liked better for a good price. For small venues the 2-10 combo should do you and not be too hard to cart around. You can always go direct in larger venues if the PA will be up to it and use the Nemesis as your on stage monitor.

Nemesis 210 is a decent amp.

I know you're considering size and weight, to keep it as portable as possible, but I want you to try to find an Eden DC210XLT Metro, for more power and flexibility tonewise. It's got a more capable EQ section for dialing in the right tone for a room and controlling boominess and clarity depending on acoustics.

Also, if you really can find it, the CXC112 bass combo is a very different, yet wonderful alternative. One 12" driver and a very simple amp with simple controls. I love the tone of Eden's 12" designs. It's worth investigating, isn't too much larger or cumbersome than the 210 styles.

Don't bother with the CXC212 combo cuz it's very large, and don't bother with the CXC210 cuz it's got the simpler EQ section. The 12" Eden combos sound great when the EQ is set flat, but the 10" combos need the more flexible WT550-style amp and EQ to be able to dial it in just right.

So try the Metro DC210XLT and the CXC112.

I'm not familiar with the Eden amps, but I use a Mesa Walkabout Scout 1x15 and I'd recommend it. It's 300w, about 60lbs, and fits easily in to my back seat. They also make a 1x12 version that's smaller and only 50lbs.
