So, I've been playing bass for about 6 months (but have more experience because of my cello playing for about 6 or 7 years. My amp has been constantly buzzing when I try to plug my bass in. It stops finally when I get the patch chord in the right place, but it's really annoying. Also, I've already replaced the patch chord, and the new patch chord is high quality. What should I do?

Sounds like the input jack on your amp has gone kerflooey. It might need to be replaced, it might require resoldering, it might simply need to have the oxidization cleaned.
You should have a tech look at it.
The weight of the instrument cable can stress the jack. It can help to route the cable through the amp handle (on top or the side wherever it is), then into the input jack. This provides a bit of strain relief and takes stress off the jack.

Yes to what beans-on-toast said or it may be the output jack on your bass. When moving around your cable which end makes the noise stop, at the amp or the bass side?
If it is the bass jack it will be a lot easier to repair.

Can you try your bass on a different amp? Can help you narrow it down if it's the output on your bass or the input on the amp should S-Bigbottom's very good advice not yield a clear answer. In addition to what beans-on-toast suggested for looping the cable through the amp handle to reduce stress on the input jack of the amp: in the future, loop the cable above the bass's output through the heel strap button between the strap end and bass heel to reduce stress on the output jack.
