If you want warm and clean, go Eden Nemisis...used if that is what it takes to get into the line. I've bought plenty of used gear to get much more than I could afford new and never have regretted it. As for power, a bass player should have at least twice the power of the guitarist to be heard well. If you just can't go that way, look at a Fender Rumble 100. My son's first amp was the Rumble 100 1x15 and it is still producing quality sound for practice and small gigs. My only complaint about the Rumble series is that it doesn't have aux speaker connections. But the amp is running 100w at 4ohms with the 15" driver it came with already and does a good job.

Amp combo purchase help

Hey people again! 
Still haven't bought anything but at least I have more to chose from. Today I went to the local shop and tried an Ampeg BA 115. I liked its sound very much but I read a lot of complaining about its tweeter hiss (which honestly I couldn't hear or at least didn't recongize). The price range is around that amp or the BA 115T, which is the tube version of it. Which one would you recommend? Is that warm 'tube' sound (which is I am looking for) presents at the 115T more than at the basic one, so is it worth that plus almost $100?
So basically the three competitors are these two Ampegs and the Ashdown MAG C115 300.

Late to the game here, but I've been recommending Yorkville/Traynor to anyone that would listen. Great value. I used an XM100 for a couple of years in a band with two guitar players & a keyboard player, and playing a 5-string. Never failed me, and never wanted for volume/lows. They have a couple better models in your price range too.

In my opinion....No, not really. It warms up the tone a little but not enough to make it sound like a true tube Ampeg. I have played them and they still sound like my SS Ampeg combo.
You could buy the 220 watt BA115HP for the price of the 100 watt BA115T and be better off.
The Traynor/Yorkville stuff that JPGeddy mentioned is good too. I finaly got to play through a Yorkville product, an XM200TC combo on Monday night. I have a friend who has some deal with them and he got a couple of rigs and a couple of combos to use on tour. He shipped the combo home from Canada and is using it while he is here to write and jam with. If they are available in your country then they are worth a serious look. I would take it over the Ampeg, and it is probably less expensive than the Ampeg.
there are not much Yorkville product are available here, I could only find cabinets....
I was watching that BA115HPT as well though it's out of the price range. I think I'll stick with the BA115 but surely I'll try the Ashdown before purchasing.

If you consider the standard BA115HP it's substantially less expensive than the BA115HPT. In the States it is usually $100.00-$130.00 less than the "T" model.
I have owned a BA115HP for close to 3 years and I like it. My only problem with it is that it isn't loud enough. It does ok w/ A couple of 65 watt guitar amps and a drummer but it starts to run out of steam if we ad another guitar or the keyboard. I use it a practice amp and small jam session amp.

Ashdown or Laney are good choices.
Fender Bassman (next step above Rumble series) is decent, but pricey.

Okay at last I got it I purchased the Ashdown T15 180 one. I has a 180W head built in with a 100W stack. I can get the 180W if I get another cab for it which is a good option when I'll be about to upgrade. I chose this for various reasons: Firstly I love its sound, secondly it was the cheapest, and the Ampeg for second listening wasn't that good... And it also has built in sub harmonics which is quite good! I can get a whole lot of tone out of it. Thanks for all the help

I want to add another mag 1x15 cab (250W 8 ohms). Will the head handle both cabs without running into any problems?
As long as both cabs are 8 ohm it will be fine. That will give you a 4 ohm load and allow the Mag 300 to put out it's full 307 watts.
TO: pankyK - Glad you found what you liked. I was going to add regardless of what you read here, ultimately your ears should tell you what you like best then buy that, sounds like you did. But I understand asking questions here about realiability, etc. this is always a good place to get good info.
TO: dxbass - Consider even a 2x10 below that 4x10. I used a SWR SOB 1x15 below my SWR Goliath III 4x10 and it always seemed kind of muddy to me. I tried my Avatar 2x10 with my 4x10 cab and liked that better than the 1x15. Of course I also used my 4x10 with my Avatar 2x12 at a outside gig and that was just awesome. Just try some different cab combinations with your 4x10 is my point.
