amp decision advice!

Hi I may sound stupid but I just don't know that much about gear prices so i was looking for some advice. Is 900$ a good price for an Ampeg SVT Classic head (year 2003, made in the USA)? I'm most likely checking it out tommorrow. I think if i pick that up then i can get a hopefully used 4 by 10 ampeg cab. Thanks for the advice. The head appears to be in good shape judging by the pics. Anything imparticular I should look for while checking out this amp.

Where they're made is of no consequence. It will either work, or won't. Do be sure to connect a proper load, (speakers) to it, ALWAYS, before turning it on. It can handle either a 4 or 2 ohm load, with a selector on the back. Be sure to match the load. Also, consider the cost of having it thoroughly checked out by a competent amp technician as part of the price of buying it. Too many things can go wrong, not to do that. And, enjoy that tone monster.

so are you saying to make sure i test it out with not just any cab but one similar to the one ill be using or are you saying just make sure the ohms are correct before turning it on? and what do you guys think about 900$ as a price? Also, i wonder if this guy will have a problem with me bringing it to an amp tech before i buy it. anyone have experience?
