Amp EQ vs. Instrument EQ

Interesting--I tend to keep my tone throughout the show---set it and forget it kinda thing...once I am happy with my tone. Anyway, I am learning some stuff from this thread so keep talking oh knowledgable ones!

Just depends on what you want/need. Of my 13 years, most of that has been playing covers from bars to church, etc., so I'm used to adjusting on the fly to better "match" what I need from my gear for a given song. Not everyone needs that, though.

+1 and this should happen for original tunes as well, depends on the style and tune. Sometimes I am playing 16th notes at 115bpm, sometimes I am playing whole notes at 85bpm. Sometimes I need articulate, punchy, growly; sometimes I need deep, fat, warm. To get better articulation I usually favor the bridge pup and turn the bass freqs down. To get fat & warm I turn the bass up and stick to both pups equal or slightly favor the neck, although this can get into mudfest territory real fast so be careful.
The amp is set per the room and the above adjustments are at my bass.
