Amp (less) question for home playing.....

Hi Everyone.....I need help with my home studio set up without an amp:

Currently have:
Fender 50's Original P-Bass
Scarlett 2i2
MAC
Garageband
Rokit 5 monitors


I think the DI/EQ/Cab Sim would be the next purchase to run into the Scarlett-thinking a Darkglass BK7 ultra V2?

Goal is to play along with drum tracks/some recording and practice to backing tracks, songs etc. - I want some EQ flexibility as well.

What do you think?

No need for a DI as you can plug in straight into the 2i2
You can use hardware for the cab and EQ or you can use a Amp sim.
Most all software plugins come with free trial periods so you can try out a few before you decide.

The first thing I would buy - but this is just me - would be a good analog compressor like the Cali76. A Sans Amp VT Bass DI would be a good buy too, it sounds very good for different styles, is good for recording and serves well in many different applications. I like the OD on the Sans Amp, but this is personal taste. I never really enjoyed amp-sim plugins etc.

A preamp or EQ would be a good choice. A DI isn’t really necessary, but it may come with the preamp. The cab sim can be done in your DAW since it will probably be digital anyway.

Depending on your budget, you may want to check out the Shift Line Mk III and check all the boxes.

As said above, you really don't need any additional hardware. Plug straight into the Scarlett and use an amp sim.

I believe there is some free stuff with GarageBand that is a decent start.

I ended up going with the Sansamp RBI...it will be here tomorrow....good call on the comp too...I want to see how the RBI goes and the add the comp. I went the amp sim route with my six string & couldn’t get a good tone.
