This might not be the most exciting refurb ever, but I figured I'd contribute something to the forum instead of lurking.
Drummer, still a newbie to the bass world, and I've had this amp lying around for people to jam on. My cats made quick work of tearing it up, and here's the result after some neglect. Anyway, I decided to spoil their fun and take the crappy carpet off, and am replacing it with Marine Vinyl.

I've never done a project like this, but I've done some research on here to get me started. I also refinished my drum kit some years ago, but that's a whole different animal.

I started by disassembling the amp (duh). Pulling off the carpet was fun enough, but the glue/hair/fiber residue left behind was a huge mess. I hit it with all my weapons and brought the particle board back to a respectable condition, which is where it's at right now.

(organization is key, I'm a master at losing stuff)

I do have a question though. I'd like to put some wheels on this amp, but I'm not sure what would be best. I don't need anything too crazy, this isn't a huge amp or anything.

One of the suspects in denial about the destruction of their favorite scratching post.

I picked up 1.75 yards of 54" wide vinyl on clearance for $11 from Joann's Fabrics. It's not tolex, but I don't gig this thing, and at that price, if it does get torn up, I can afford to do it again. And they have quite a few colors to choose from:

This faux alligator stuff was tempting, but I wasn't sure if it was quite durable enough. Then I found that greyish blue material and made up my mind.

For the record, as I was reading the replies that tortoiseshell cat, who is a bit wonky, started licking and batting at the metal frame of my keyboard stand. It's only a matter of time before everything is destroyed!

While it's dismantled should check if the cab is dampened well etc. might as well do it all at once while it's up on cinder blocks.

I don't own a cat but get gear from people who do. I was wondering if replacing torn up carpet with like felt? Then clear coating it kind of like old fashioned tweed finish, but in green or something.
