Amp match for Bag End stack

I'd consider a whole family of amps if looking for an Eden head...all from a similar progression of design...AMP 420, Gibson GB-440, SWR-400s, SWR-350, Eden WT-300, Eden WT-400, and Thunderfunk TFB-420. Just watch the classifieds and/or eBay for all these heads and you'll certainly find one on the cheap. All these heads were basically designed by the same two guys and are all great.

There are multiple SWR 350s with the red face plates that have gone as cheap as $175 on eBay recently...really great amp for the money! The 350 just has one set of semi-parametric mid controls where the other heads mentioned above have 3 bands of semi-parametrics. These heads sound great flat, so really you should be able to get what you want out of a 350. The other heads can be had for $300-400.

After this past weekend of playing out I'm ready to start using my Thunderfunk TFB-420 again for everything except the loud cover band gigs. I do like the Streamliner, but I could see myself maybe trading/selling it for a Genz Benz Shuttle Max at some point...I'm at least curious to see if a Shuttle Max would be closer to the old Eden WT-300, but louder. I won't be selling that Thunderfunk head ever.

I really liked a Markbass F1/two Bag End S12 cabs rig for a while, but for your tone preferences, a TH500 might be the ticket...although I wanted a bit more clarity (note separation) with the 300 I played...I'm assuming they sound similar, so if that assumption is off, someone correct this.

That is something of a classic combination. Suprised it took until pge 2 to get a mention. These days I would probably pick the MB500 in Gk.

I'm playing through a GB Streamliner 600 a custom built 2x15 ATM. I like that a lot. Through the Bag Ends it would be a nice choice as well. The BE 15's do not have as much low end as I've grown acustomed to at this point.

I have been very happy the last couple years with my LMII running into my s15/s15x stack. Set flat with the filters both at around 9 o'clock to warm thing sup a bit.

I have also run the GK 700RB and the Hartke LH500 through the Bags, and they sounded fine, too.

And, I would be willing to bet the Streamliner suggestion is also an excellent one.

Well, it turns out I found both a Streamliner 600 and a WT400 at prices too good to pass up. Picked up the Streamliner on Saturday and will get the WT400 on Friday.

I have just played the Streamliner at home and am really pleased. I appreciate all the good information that has been written about the interaction of the gain and tone controls to achieve a reasonably broad range of sounds. It helped me dial in a few nice tonal 'choices' quite easily.

Next step will be to sell my WT330 and very new PF500. Both are okay, but having the Steamliner and WT400 as choices is a nice upgrade.

Thanks again for the input. TB is a great community.

I play my Tonehammer 500 thru the two Bag End 15's at my bands practice space- GREAT sound, plenty loud, on like volume 3 or 4 max! Real good match, good cabinets, nice bass response, fairly easy to hear, punchy for days. (keeps me on my toes because you can hear every note I play (or don't)
Then again the TH500 sounds like a million $$ thru my DNA 112 cabinet as well.

I've done an oddball pairing with mine. Running a Genz 12.0 with a 4 ohm d10x-d on one side of the amp, and an 8 ohm s15x-cus on the other side, 600 watts to the 210 and around 350 to the single 15 custom cab. It works out really well, giving a nice low end response to go along with the more mid focused 210.
