Amp not working?

I just bought a Warwick LWA 500 head, and it doesn't appear to be working properly. The head is 500 watts at 4 ohms, and I'm running it through a Behringer Ultrabass bb210 cab with 8 ohms of impedance. My problem is that the head is not really putting out much volume. Even when I have everything cranked to 11 (on both the amp and my bass), there's hardly any volume at all. The only thing that I could think of is that because the head is 4 ohms and the cab runs at 8 ohms its only operating at half the power, but still 250 watts should be a lot of noise. My 4 ohm 300 watt Behringer head puts out ear-splitting noise on the same cabinet at only half volume! Nonetheless, I have no idea why I'm getting such a low output. Is there something wrong with my head, or am I just missing something obvious?

Yeah. Sounds like a problem.

Active or passive bass?

Does the Warwick have an effects loop?
If so put a patch cable between the two jacks and see what happens.

PROBLEM SOLVED. Like an idiot I had the speaker cable plugged into the wrong output jack. I foolishly forgot that you can plug a quarter inch cable into the center of a speaker cable jack, so I was using line out instead of speaker out. Sorry to waste everyone's time. Blessings.

Doh! I hope that didn't wreck your line out. When I plugged my speaker into the footswitch control jack I blew the power supply of the preamp. Double Doh!!
