Amp quesion

Can I use the headphone jack on an amp without having a cabinet. Thinking about picking up one of the Ampeg Venture V7 heads, but not set on what cabinet to buy. Still would like to use the head though.

I think about 90% of the time a head needs a speaker load.....not the ampeg pf50t, but most heads.

It's OK to run the Class D Amps without a speaker, but not older Amps with Tube power sections.

4. Phones: Connect your headphones to this 1/4" TRS stereo output to monitor a mix of the line-level signals reaching the amplifier and audio from the front panel's Input jack.
IMPORTANT! Always turn the amplifier's Volume knob down to minimum before connecting headphones to avoid potential hearing damage.
TIP: If you want to listen and practice through headphones “silently,” disconnect the Speaker Outputs [3]. There is no harm caused to your Venture series amplifier by using it without speakers connected.

I don't think the V7s are available, yet (only V3 & V12), but I could be wrong.
