so tomorrow morning i should be getting an ampeg SVT-150H to go with my portabass 1x12 cab..... is there a way that i can upgrade the power section of the amp to produce more?

amp question

AFAIK you have 3 options here:
1. buy a new, bigger amp.
2. buy another amp and run it alongside your current one (you need seperate cabs for each amp though)
3. gut another (bigger) amp and replace your current power section. This would require an awful lot of electronics knowedge, and probably a lot of time.

If you know it doesn't have enough power to meet your needs, why did you buy it in the first place???

oh i know its going to be plenty loud enough, i'll be using it with an ampeg portabass 1x12 cab with an emenence legend 12 (rated at 400 watts i think), was just wondering if anyone here had thought of it too. trading a fender BXR 200 for it... those BXR amps are great and sound good... they're just insanely heavy and cumbersome.
I was going to suggest losing the cab, because most Portabass cabs stank... so inefficient that they ruined the entire line totally.... The ones for the 300W unit made it sound like 60-70 watts... literally..... 6 dB lower sensitivity than most.

there is... im just trying to find an easier way than building a whole new power section and removing the old one and hard wiring it in there.
Seems like an awful lot of work. Like buying a car without enough power, then dropping in a new engine. Why not just skip all that and get an amp with the power you need in the first place.
money, lol. if i coulda afforded (or someone had a svt-350 up) i woulda got one of those.
