amp questions

i know nothing about how to match heads and cabs.

Yes. The Eden would be supplying 300 watts when in use and the Portaflex would be supplying 500 watts when in use. The cab that you posted is 500 watts RMS at 4 ohms so either amp would work just fine with that cab.

For about 2 seconds before you need to replace both heads! DO NOT run two amp heads into the same cab unless it has a stereo input (like some 810 cabs).

i want to have two seperate heads ,one for each of my basses, with both going to the same cab. and i want to be able to just hit a switch to go between the two

Both amps appear to be SS power amps so this could work AS LONG AS the switch leaves the unused amps output open circuit. Failure to ensure this WILL result in amplifier damage. Do you want to be able to switch amps for a tonal change?

the biggest problem I see is that most foot switches don't have enough current capacity for 500 watts, but a relay could be fashioned to do it.

yes for tonal changes
i can get a good sound of both my basses on the portaflex but not with the same setting so i want to get another head so i can switch between the basses with out messing with the amp.

Do you intend on operating either amp in bridged mode? This would complicate the switch. If both amps had a common ground in the output then a simple single pole double throw house light switch could do the task. If however you were using an amp in bridged mode or the amp had no common ground at the outputs then the switch would have to be a bit more complicated (double pole, double throw).

I might suggest an EQ pedal for one of the basses so all you need to do when changing basses is tap the EQ pedal in or out.

With this you could get away with one head...

If you still decide to try it, Radial makes some amp head switchers to do exactly what you proposed.
