Amp Stand For Bass?

I have two of these. Quite a few other TB'ers have also mentioned using them in similar threads to this one.

+2 It easily folds up to transport as well. Works like a charm.

I got the X-Workhorse at Home Depot today for $35. Seems like a nice piece of equipment. Perfect size for the cab and stable--the "leveler foot" (one of the feet adjusts to stabilize on an uneven surface) is really handy in that way. I am now trying to figure out if it's worth--for stage appearance--draping anything over it when performing, like a tapestry.

I love going home after a gig with ears ringing and an overworked cab because the amp is directing 90% of the sound away from my ears. Also nice to hear a deflected and undirected bass tone instead of one pointed right at me.

Seriously, people need to try a gig (not practice) with the cab AT ear level and pointing right at their head before guessing about the difference between that and one pointing at your feet or back. Soundmen and bandmates will love you too for not blasting it all over the stage and audience.

I recently bought a heavy-duty "on Stage Stands" double-braced X-foldable keyboard stand for $60 at Guitar Center to put my 2x10 cab on top of for smaller venues. Can hold up to 300 pounds, works great... but for any decent-sized venue I still need to use the 1x15 under the 2x10 (instead of the keyboard stand) to get any real depth to the tone. But yeah, it helps a ton to keep something projecting at you near head-level.

I've been using amp/cab stands for years. Up until recently I was using a quik-lok foldable keyboard stand, but recently I built my own out of some wood I had laying around:

I wanted something that was the "perfect height" for either my 410 or 212. The quik-lok stand always seemed a little too tall and often was shaky. I also mounted a power strip on the back and coated it in Duratex:

I'll post better pics when the removable front panel (not shown) is back from the graphic artist with the band logo painted on it.

So far I couldn't be happier with it. It's solid, pretty lightweight, the perfect height, and I use it to carry gear during load/in out so it's not a hassle to haul or store.

You can get it [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] for $35

I use one at a rehearsal space that sometimes has a damp floor to hold 1x15 and head. I think the capacity is 750lbs

Dude...I just spent quite a while looking for this thread because I wanted to thank you. I bought one of these on your rec and I LOVE it. It puts my amp up where I can hear myself and get the sound out there, it's light enough for me to carry anywhere, it folds flat, it was super cheap...altogether awesome. Bandmates are all threatening to steal it. Thanks for the heads-up! :D

the rock and roller carts can be used as a stand . . .

edit:
this is the only pic I could find, but you can just leave it upright. there's a TB'r who posts a pic every now and then like that . . . they come in different sizes too

i have that cart.. dont think it'd realistically hold the amp on an angle like that, especially if it was being played through and vibrating like crazy..
