Amp/Wireless Hook Up?

I recently acquired a Line 6 G90 Wireless for my rack. The amp I am running is a GK MB500. I would like all the cabling to be behind the rack instead of the front.

Could I run out of the wireless and into the “return” on the amp? Or do I HAVE to run into the front input on the amp?

Very very doubtful you'll end up with enough signal to run it into the return, so go into the input. You'll have to violate your plug-in-back rule, but at least it'll work that way.

You can also make your own cable with an angle plug like this

Does not solve not having a cable in the front but probably a smaller footprint

One of my pet peeves is rack stuff with no rear I/O. If Peavey can do it right then why can't Ashdown and GK?

Yeah, it is quite annoying to me as well. Oh well, I guess I am drilling through a 1U blank in my rack to pass the cable through.

Why not just drill through the rack ear of the MB500?

Plugging into the FX return of the amp would defeat the preamp of the MB500. Even if you could do it, you'd have no EQ.

1. Please remove the ear from the rack and the amp to do this. You don't want swarf falling into the rack or the amp. Make sure you add a rubber grommet to the hole so you don't wear though the insulation of the cable. thought insulation.

Gotcha, I thought you were referring to using the effects return.

Usually, when installed in a rack, there is suitable space above or below the amp to slip the cable if the amp is installed in the top or bottom position. The rack rails at the bottom are generally held off of the bottom surface of the rack by at least 1/4" on most racks.

A problem like this is exactly why I bought a rack-mount Ampeg SVT II Pro preamp and used a rack-mount PA type power amp in my rig. I had everything prewired in the back of the rack so that all I had to do was plug in the power conditioner and connect the amp to the cab with a speakon cable.

Oh okay. Yeah, I will check to see if the spacing at the bottom of the rack is enough to run the cable before I drill anything, thanks!
