Ampeg 410 Makeover with Behr DeckOver

Cab looks great in blue, but what kind of "plywood" is the 410hlf made of, anyway? That isn't regular plywood, particleboard, or MDF. It looks like the strand board stuff that used to go into subfloors. Weird.

Yeah I guess the SLM era cabs were made from this "shredded wheat" style wood. I saw a thread about someone redoing an Ampeg 810 and it was made from the same stuff.

By the way - is that Celestion drivers in there? :cautious:

The top two are Peavey Scorpion Bass speakers that are probably from the 80's. The bottom two are Eminence Legend drivers. The Peavey speakers were in it when I got it along with one original speaker and one newer Eminence speaker that was 32 ohms! It was a mess with that 32 ohm driver plus the original 4 ohm driver and the two Peavey drivers that are 8 ohms each! All the drivers are 8 ohms wired in series/parallel so it stays 8 ohms. Even with the mix of Peavey and Eminence speakers it sounds great!
