ampeg 410 vs eden 410

When it came time to purchase my 4x10 cabs, I was able to compare the eden xlt with the ampeg cabs. The only cab that I found to be every bit the Eden xlt's equal was the Ampeg BXT 4x10. The price for the Ampeg was a little less so that's what I went with. I am very happy with these cabs, I would never consider any other 4x10 Ampeg cab unless they made major upgrades to the components. Take a look at the components of the different 4x10 cabs on the Ampeg website, none of the other 4x10 cabs Ampeg makes comes close to their BXT's

+1 for the Ampeg BXT410HL cabs. I have 2 and they are a great sounding cab. They have a smooth, detailed sound that I personally don't associate with the other Ampeg cabs I've owned in the past. My only complaint is their weight(122 lbs), but compared to my old 810E's 165 lbs, they're quite easy to transport-with my hand-truck.

IMHO, Ampeg's classic 810 cab teamed with a vintage SVT all-tube head is the definitive rock tone.


In regards to the Eden cabs, I really regret selling the D-410XLT I used to own. I agree with the opinions that Eden's tone is in between SWR's and Ampeg's. Awesome sounding cabs.

I don't think you could go wrong with either Ampeg or Eden.

I have'nt tried Eden's stuff since the buyout, has the new ownership maintained the quality and tone?

I don't know what you are talking about the 410T being inneficient-It totally smokes my 100DB cab I have along side it... The 410HE can't do anything on it's own-There's no bottom end. Now on the 410T's and 410XLT's, there is alot of low end. I have to crank my bass controls down with my Eden (FWIW-If you boost the 80HZ with the 410T-the lows start pumpin, because that's it's +/- 2db point).

Assuming both your 4 string basses are in standard tuning, you wouldn't see quite the same problem. I tune down to B flat so most of my lines with this band are well below the -2db point of the Eden, and frequently below it's -6db point at 50 Hz. That's why the Eden puts out nothing for me and the HLF is louder. Even a 1x15 is louder than the Eden 410 because it plays lower. 80 Hz is not low, and based on it's specs the 410HE still has better lows than the Eden.
