Just picked one up off of CL for $200. Looks like hell but sounds wonderful. Never would I ever need two but for the price I had to jump on it.
Nice rigs! I dig the acoustic 370! I have one and run it thru avatar or eden cabs. I've had it for 25 years, and it's a killer!
Thanks God I don't have any more room at my house. I've never seen one for $200, but saw one for $300 and almost bought it!
I just couldn't pass it up. It was twenty five minutes from my house. Got my first one back in 08 for $400 and it was mint, tags and all. Then got the head brand new for $1100. So all in all two 810's and an SVT CL for $1700.
Why yes, yes it is. Sounds slightly more open and flat (less mids) than the SVT cab. The SVT through either combination of 16 10's is quite, ummm...full. Tone of the 360 is still best. 10cc is kind of a dįčk, though.
I introduce you guys to Dave Hill. His Megoliath (damn fine cab), he also spotted the CL ad for the 810 and is one of the finest bass players around our area and a hell of nice guy.
i bought a second ampeg 810 for 250 but one of the speakers was blown. Didn't notice it until a week after I bought it. I also once bought an acoustic 810 for real cheap only to find out much later the bottom speakers weren't producing any sound at all. Hope yours is ok! If a deal sounds too good too be true it probably is. But hopefully yours is all good.
Thanks SirMjac. Yeah it all works too Vinny. I think it sounds better than my first one. It is an older model than my 08.
So now you have to do the only sensible thing: Get a splitter for your instrumental signal, make sure all of the cabs are in-phase with one another, and then rock out through everything at once.
I once ran into a similar deal for a beaten but working ampeg 810. I already had my wallet in my hand when i realized that i don't have a car where it fits in.
Ha. Bring down the Christmas decorations throughout the house too. Didn't realize you was a fan of Shonna. She is a good friend of mine.
