Ampeg alternatives to PF Series??

I am 100% happy with my PF-50t for the past few years. No problems whatsoever and the transformer fed DI is awesome for FOH.

I'd say get a Berg.
My B|Amp can sound as good as anything I ever played. And the capability of it is far superior than most all I have ever seen.
I don't own a Forte HP (which is getting some rave reviews), but that is an awesome Berg too.

I also love my PF800 and haven't had a lick of trouble either . In fact I got the PF800 as a replacement for the SVLCL pre and Crown I recommended in my previous post . Fot sure it's not quite the same but it sounds great and has plenty of power for whatever cabs I use . The OP has had trouble with the ones he has had so he probably should look somewhere else .

I've got to ask; understood it's not the same but curious if you can describe the differences?
Does the PF have the punch and heft of your other rig?
I have both an SVP-CL and SVP-II pre-amps and love them both.
One is driving class D and the other Class AB; both sound awesome.

The PF 800 doesn't quite seem as smooth and detailed in the mids as the SVPCL and the DI isn't as transparent . But the tone controls like the switchable mids , ultra high and low buttons and that are very similar and the overall tone is pretty close especially live with a band . I didn't notice a lack of punch or heft but I never got to use it with my fEarful 15/6 and 15 sub like I did with my Ampeg pre and the Crown . The Crown was the XLS 1500 bridged so I'm sure it had more oomph but I didn't notice it .

The cab I used with the pre/power and the PF 800 was an X-sonics 212 with Kappalite 12s . That little cab kicked with either rig on big stages .

I do have to say that if I had both amps to choose from sitting in front of me at a gig I would pick the pre/poweramp rig .

I had the PF800 using it with the PF115LF cab

Sold it and got the new Ashdown RM800 EVO II and use the same PF115LF cab

For me the Ashdown is a clear improvement in many ways and sounds really good with the cab.

Found it easier to get more sounds out of the Ashdown and has more punch in my opinion

Plus they don’t shut down mid gig !

Just came across this thread because I have the same problem. My Ampeg PF-500 stopped working in the middle of rehearsal twice, so I bought a PF-800 because I heard they solved the problems. That shut down on my last night right at the start of our NYE gig. As much as I love the sound, I'm done with Ampeg, I just don't trust them any more and neither does the rest of my band. What did you go with OP?

Sorry to hear you ran into similar issues. I ended up using the PF-800 head as a pwr amp, and all problems disappeared. So instead of plugging into the input jack (in front), I plug into the back (pwr amp in) and let the Sansamp VT Bass or Orange Bass Butler act as my volume/tone. Zero cutting out now.

Is here anyone who has a circuit schematic of the Ampeg PF-800 ??????

Ampeg is part of Yamaha nowadays , ...so I did a request to the Technical Support Department of that company for sending me a circuit schematic by email , ....but till now I did not receive anything from them !

If no one has a circuit schematic of the Ampeg PF-800 , ......and the factory/company of that brand does't make it available ,....and the warranty is only for two years ,.....and considdering the high number of failures and complaints when the warranty period just has expired ,...can someone tell me , what good reason is left then for buying such a poopie-amplifier brand ?

We can no longer rely on the good brand-name of yesteryear.
