Ampeg/Avatar problem driving me nuts

While there's been a bunch of talk that flew right over my head, I haven't done anything with the cab. Haven't had band practice so I haven't fussed with it. My solution for now is to use a spare head for practice and take my SVT to gigs. Maybe I'll save up for a different class D amp in the future.

Well this thread got me wanting to do something so I went to the local Sam Ash looking for a used GK and ended up coming home with a brand new Fender Rumble 500. Always wrote that line off as junk until I plugged into the new version and was blown away.

Took it home and plugged it in to the Avatar and it sounds great with no issues so far. There's obviously an issue with using my PF500 into this cab and if I can't find the reason then I'm just going use a different head.

IMHO, it's a roll of the dice with the PF-500.
There's just as many players that has had problems as have not with the 500 watt version.
If a bassist must have a PF series head, and doesn't need a lot of power, go with the PF-350.
If you need more power/headroom, go with the PF-800.
Skip the 500 watt version.

My theory, the class "D" amps NEED that extra head room to keep from hitting their peak/overload and then going into their protect/failure mode.

A interesting side note, there's several manufacturers that have recently released new class "D" heads and went directly to 800 watt models, skipping 500 watt models altogether in their new series.
