Double Bass Ampeg B-15 question...

I am interested in an Ampeg B 15 for sale on criagslist. The person selling claims he bought this amp in either '68 or '69 and it's in excellent condition. He also told me it's a solid state amp. Were the B 15's made as solid state amps back then? He is working on putting up pictures, so I haven't seen it yet.

My dad traded his B15N in for a BT15 in 1967. Great little amp. with luminescent green backlit front panel.

I have a B-15N late 60's and a B-15S early to mid seventies. Both are tube amps.

Both of those amplifiers are classic warm sounding Ampeg Portaflex Amps. The B 15S was a higher powered version of the B-15, a pretty heavy beast, but a great sound. The BT 15 was a solid state amplifier that was only built for a couple of years.

Oooops you are correct. I misread that. The BT-15 was indeed a solid state unit.
