Ampeg b100r speaker "pop"

I've got a B100R and it pops about 3 seconds after I turn it off, even with the volume all the way down. It's never bothered me.

My B100R never pops, although it takes a good 2 seconds to completely power down. I've learned to never unplug until that amount of time is up.
My B-3158, however, does pop when turned off. Must be an Ampeg thing?

From what I hear though it's pretty common so I wouldn't be nervous. I believe my SWR WM 2004 (that I used to have) used to pop when I turned it on even if the volume was down as well.My Kasino Lounge-B 'pops' when I turn it off. Come to think of it, every solid-state amp I've ever used (including various pro and home audio stuff) had some sort of 'powering down pop' that was audible through the speakers.
I don't see how it could damage the speaker. It's not a 'clipped' signal (or even particularly loud). Harmless? Probably.
Even my all-tube head (a Markley SS-120) makes a bit of a noise when I switch it into standby mode. I've never turned it right off so I wouldn't know what it does in that case.

I realize that this is a zombie thread, but I thought I'd add this info for future searchers.
My B100R (US-built) has always popped. From what I've been told by Ampeg, "They all do that." I know that the sound wasn't going to hurt the amp, but it bugged me nonetheless.
My solution was to have Invalid Link Removedinstall a timed relay in the amplifier. It opens the speaker circuit as soon as the power is cut, before the pop hits. It works beautifully.

This is such a simple thing to add to a SS amplifier. They ALL have instability while the power rails charge on power up and drain at power down. Adding such a circuit to prevent these surges from reaching the speakers is a no brainer. All SS amps should be so equipped. All decent amplifiers are!!!
