Ampeg B15 ?

I'm not sure if this silly question deserves a whole topic but when it comes to anything technical I'm clueless.

I own a B15S and was wondering

1. If there was a way to use the cabinet with a modern amp? As y'all know the head connects to the speaker with a cord that has a funny multi pin connection.

and

2. If yes to question 1 if it was advisable.

You can make an adapter as only two of those pins are the actual speaker connection, you just have to trace them to find which two (I am sure someone here knows the answer to that, JimmyM, for example).

As to advisable, no problem so long as you use the same judgement as you would with any other speaker. What is in your B15S, at the moment?

What speaker? It has a 15" speaker but if you're asking what brand I took a look and it's tough to read. I think it's a Jensen but can't be absolutely certain.

My interest is more of using a modern head with the B15 cab. Its such a great looking thing but we don't have PA support and it just doesn't put out enough muscle to make it a doable gig thing. But I figured if I could hook it up to my TCE Classic or my Ampeg PF-500...

Pretty much, yeah. Maybe if it was an Altec you might get a little more out of it, but the CTS and Eminences they used back then you were lucky to get 100w out of one.

Special order for Will by Ampeg. They did cool custom stuff back then. Made a huge blue diamond rig for Tom Hamilton, made a clear SVT and B-15R for Adam Yauch, made 218 cabs for Johnny A of Staind.

That would be awesome if they started doing that again.
