My V4 sends a weird noise too going out (or in…?) of standby (not crackling, more like a « bzzzt »!). It doesn’t bother me honnestly.

On the V4 the standby switches the ground for the high voltage. You get that big “whump” as the power amp starts to conduct.

On the B25B if it just happens when you do the standby switch perhaps a bad switch or dirty contact somewhere (tube socket, etc), but as long as it’s not a constant noise I wouldn’t be too concerned.

+1. I played and owned a B-25B for many, many years.

Also, are you using the 16ohm out? It was an odd bird for a bass head that way. Loved the matching 2x15".

Yes using 2 8 ohm speakers connected to a 16ohm converter

The switch on mine is quiet.
Dirty switch maybe?
Love my old B25b..didnt love the cab though.
