AMPEG B2R FAN REPAIR

I"m a very handy guy and can replace the fan in my amp but does someone know if I can replace it with a pc fan or do I have to use an Ampeg fan? The fan just doesn't work I'm assuming its the fan unless someone has something else I should check first. Thanks

It could be the fan or the heat sensor. I had the same problem with my B2R (fan just wouldn't come on). It was less than $25 to get it repaired (more than a pc fan, but cheap).

Now the fan just stays on all of the time, but is quiet so not a problem. Either, that's the way the amp should be, or the repair guys just bypassed the heat sensor LOL!

It looked just like a PC fan to me, but I've never had to replace it.

HA HA-it actually isn't a bad sounding amp. I use it for a backup to my Thunderfunk, but I could live with it no problem. You have to run it at 4 ohms and with the master all the way up (using your gain as volume).

Those small fans are quite generic, which can be good or bad. The good thing is that you can find a fan with similar ratings. The bad thing is that cheap PC fans are... cheap. This is not where you want to skimp. Get the part number off the old fan, find out its ratings, and get a new ball bearing fan from a decent distributor like Digi-Key or Mouser. Observe the arrow which indicates the air flow.
