Ampeg BA-115

I have an Ampeg BA-115 amp. It has a "style" feature that can be set for different playing styles. I read the manual but it doesn't describe exactly what the settings are such as what setting for what style of music. Is anyone familiar with this amp and if so can you explain the settings? I play an Ibanez SR500 through it. Thanks.

The style switch is actually a pretty simple knob to turn. Play with it and see what sounds you like. The three tone controls are in fact volume controls for those bands. They do not cut or add.

Look at your literature a little bit more, and study the wiring diagram on the back. It lays it all out pretty simply.

Without sounding too harsh, I think a little attention to detail in this will go a long way. Expect to find this thread moved to the amp section when a mod gets here. Again, attention to detail.

Sorry about putting this under the wrong thread topic.
I have played with different settings on the amp. I guess I should have asked for some input from some people that have the amp and the different ways they use the settings for different sounds. Right now I have the style on 3, treble on 6, mids on 6, and bass on 9.

I'm glad it was put here or I would have missed it!
I have one of these and had no idea what 'style' meant.
I just tried all the settings out 'til I found what I liked.
With a Fender Jazz I have it on '3'.
Other settings: bass and treble '5' and mid '0' ( add more for 'Jaco'). That's what I likes.

PS don't ya hate it when people reply but don't address the question?

No, that was fine. That's what I'm looking for, some input. I'm not used to all of this "new" equipment. I just started playing bass again back in February. I hadn't touched one in over 25 years. My last bass was a Fender Musicmaster with an old 60 watt Ampeg(tube). It was pretty good back then but the "new" equipment has EQ's and all kinds of settings I never had in the past. Back then, we use to just crank the bass and amp and play, there didn't seem to be different "styles". Thanks for the input. Over 25 years ago....now you know why I call this equipment "new".

Hah . .I had a 20 year lay-off too. All I ever did was give the SR4 an annual 30 minute exercise. I had an Acoustic 1x15 combo I bought in 1977 along with the Stingray.
Bought the Ampeg 2 years ago - that model still has bass/mid/treble along with 'style'. The Acoustic had 5 or 6 band EQ with sliders so the Ampeg is easier if anything.
The old stuff is still good. Fender originals and Ampeg B15's are still around.

I guess my next question was just answered. I wanted to know if a 2x10 cab could be used with the BA-115. I know some combos actually shut off the internal speaker if an external speaker cab is hooked up. I had a Crate like that. So, can an external cab such as a 2x10 be hooked up with a BA-115 and will the 15" in the Ampeg still work? Also is the 100 watts enough to push a 15" and a 2x10? The cab I had in mind was a Gallien-Krueger Goldline 210 GXL. Thanks. Sorry if this is a stupid post.
