Ampeg BA series rant

Every new peice of equipment I have seen that comes from overseas seems to have to have every screw retightened on it. I think it must be from humidity from shipping. I took a friends new peavey tnt and tightened every screw on it including speaker screws, every screw on it was loose. I'm guessing the wood shrinks when it gets here being we are so much lower humidity. I would do as stated above even if it doesnt rattle. Might as well start out with a good tight amp.

The BA112 is good sounding little amp, really good. I'd take one over the Fender Rumble any day, even if I had to do a little work on it.

My ba108 farts out past 2. I much prefer my fender rumble 15.

I did notice, and I also noticed that it had nothing to do with my BA112 post that you quoted.
You see, when you quote someone, your post should have some relevance to the post you quoted. See how that works? It's not difficult.

My BA108 doesn't fart out till you get around 4-5, which is about normal for Ampegs. I'd much rather have it than the Rumble.

Well just make sure I'm right first I believe the terminals are marked + and -.

Best way to check, in my mind, is to do the battery test. With the positive terminal of a 9V battery against the tip of the speaker cable, negative to the sleeve, most cones will push out from the basket. All the cones in a system should respond the same way.

Some driver manufacturers reverse this, most notably JBL.

I will have to try out the Fender Rumble 15 but if it sounds decent and can get louder then the Ampeg before farting out that will be good enough for me.

But it did actually. You mentioned you didn't like the fender rumble, I was comparing my ba to the rumble. No need to be a jerk, leave that for a guitar forum

They also have some Ampeg GVT series tube guitar amps, which see more usage than the bass amp, but they've been rock-solid reliable. Go figure.

Non working input jack is usually a very easy fix.

I scored a BA115 cabinet - minus the amp section - for $50 last year. Disconnected the fuzzing out tweeter and use it with my Tone Hammer 500 head and it sounds very good.

Well I decided to try out the Rumble 15. It sound just as good as the Ampeg without any rattles. I am very happy with this little amp so I bought it.

I've just bought a used BA112 for a stage monitor and love the tone, but I want to cure the rattle. Could you explain the best way to pull off the grill please? I don't want to damage anything (too much!).

That's not my experience. The Rumble 15 I had farted out at a relatively low volume.

Grills are held on with Velcro. Ba-108 and BA-110 have a black tab that you pull to get it off. I don't know about the 112.

There are no tabs on the BA112. Easiest way, partially back out one of the screws from the Ampeg logo and pull on it with pliers.

The cab looks very well glued, so I just tried the foam tape gasket tip. That didn't stop the rattle when playing certain notes on the E and A strings - so I'll try adding more glue.
