Ampeg BA112

Hi,
I have been looking at purchasing an Ampeg BA112 bass amp.
I am a newbie bass player and I want a small amp to practice on and rehearse with when my skills are up to it.What are some opinions on this particular amp ? Are there better amps in this price range and if so, what are they ?

The BA112 is, imo, Ampegs BEST ss combo amp. Great tone, decent volume, no unneccesary gizmos or gadgets. Just a solid sounding small bass amp. Good choice.

Great tone- much louder than I thought and lighter in weight to lug around as well.

I have been looking at purchasing an Ampeg BA112 bass amp.
I am a newbie bass player and I want a small amp to practice on and rehearse with when my skills are up to it.

I have one and love it. I'm not a kid at age 54, and for the music I play most, and the bands I play in, it is just fine. Only 50W, and that's not much for bass. But I play acoustic bass guitar with acoustic bands only, and rarely turn it up past 2 or 3. I wish it had a XLR line out with constant gain instead of the 1/4" TS that varies with the main volume, but that's a minor problem. It's small and light, and easy to carry around. You could find a BA115 in nice shape, used, for the same money ... I had considered it myself, but the weight factor won the day for the little BA112.

There are other combos out there by Fender, Crate, Behringer ... but I'm old school and Ampeg is a name I trust and a sound I prefer ... and it has lived up to its name.
