hey, i'm not too experienced with bass equipment and stuff so i'd like your advice. i'm thinking about getting a new bass and new amp pretty quick here, and a friend of mine told me that Ampeg is a good brand for basses. so i looked at the BA115 and thought it looked decent on the internet, i just haven't played with it yet. so before buying it, i need some feedback. wanna help?

Ampeg BA115: any good?

Can't really go wrong with that Amp if it will be your first Amp Purchase. Can you go down and play through it - see if you like it?
It is not small either (but not huge) so if you plan on transporting it keep that in mind.
Most Ampegs sound great. Good luck and let us know if you end up buying it.

I had it for a while - it's ok. Not great, but for a first amp there are worse. I'd recommend the SWR LA115 over it though - louder, no tweeter hiss, and smaller/easier to move.
ah i can't go play through with it, cause it's not in town. i live in anchorage, alaska so we have basically nothing up here. ha.

It is what I use to play out with. I am happy with the sound I get from it but I've never played through any huge expensive rigs before..
I do often wish it was louder. The tweeter hiss is annoying but has never been a problem at a show.
