Ampeg BA115 for $250

Hey,

My bandmates own one of these; it is what I played on until I brought my rig to the practice space. It gets the job done just fine, plenty loud. I'm currently using it as a practice amp and for $250 you cannot really go wrong, they bought it from a friend for that price I think. See if you can play it before you buy it, if not, it's still a good deal.

I have the same amp. It has plenty of volume and sounds good too. I use it with an Ibanez SR500 or a Fender MIM jazz. The Fender is really loud played through it. The guys I play with use mainly acoustic guitars so I only have to ramp it to maybe 4. When they hook up the Strats though it still keeps up with them. I never have cranked it all the way up. I do wish you could hook up an external cab to it though. I'd like to use the 15" with a 2X10.

I will comment on the tweeter hiss issue. Though I have not fussed around with this amp a lot, in the 1st detent for the "style" knob (mid voicing I think), I did get some tweeter hiss/noise. I don't know if you can turn the tweeter off, it sounds like you have to manually disconnect it. I just used 2,3,4,5 for the style knob and it was not unbearably noisy.

Well I went ahead and picked it up first thing this morning. There weren't all these replies to this thread before I left to go get it!

Here's a pic though of the actual one I bought,

Interesting to hear all this talk about the tweeter hiss.. I guess I'll be on the lookout for that and know what to expect when it comes to fixing it...
