Ampeg BA115 v2 thoughts?

Hi all, so I'm thinking about trading in my Gallien Krueger MB2x12 combo. Nothing wrong with it I just can't find myself to be enthralled with the tone. They always sound so dry to me and not enough warmth and punch for the tone I want. My first amp was an Ampeg BA115 from c. 2009, I loved that thing but the 100w output wasn't enough to keep up with a live band (I mostly play NWOBHM style music). These days I wouldn't dare to use one live but for practice and rehearsals. I was interested in the v2 version of the BA115 and wanted to see what you guys thought. I haven't seen much on here regarding the v2 versions of the BA series. Like 'em? Hate 'em? Anyone recommend something better? I'm all ears! Thanks.

I'm gonna assume the GK provides the desired volume. If that's the case, I'd look at throwing a "character" pedal in front as opposed to selling and buying something lesser that has limited applications. A few that come to mind with the Ampeg vibe: Ampeg DI-SCR, Sansamp BDDI or VT, Linden Barber, Ampeg Classic Analog. Whichever you chose, you'll be pleasantly surprised by how well they warm-up the front end of a seemingly sterile SS amp. It's relatively cost-effective, as well.
