They were (actually OSB) but I can't remember the timeline...I was speaking about the higher powered speakers that go low and don't go high.So what happened in 2001?; mdf or ???

You did a good job of describing it...the tradeoff for going lower is they don't go as high. Ampeg claims 5k, Eminence claims those speakers do 4k, I think it's closer to 2k.And NO, It does not sound like the new series of 8*10's by Ampeg at all. I don't quite know how to describe the difference, the new ones just don't have the same upper register detail to them.......but that's just my $0.02.
Hm. I use High highs, and low lows. No mid. Would this be a bad choice of cabs for me?
