Ampeg enthusiasts. Please read/help.

Hey dudzies. I'm just wonderin, which solid state Ampeg has the best rep?
I'm currently playing through an SVT CL, but I've decided I would like a solid state back-up. Is there a particular Ampeg solid state that is reknown for it's similarity in tone to the tube models by Ampeg? Or if not for it's similarity, then for it's own merit amongst it's peers?

I used to own the SVT 350, and was unimpressed with it's capabilities. So let's leave that one off the table.

Thank you everyone.

90% agreed with BillyB. I think the Carvin's wattage is insane, quite honestly ;) However, going strictly by Ampeg, the SVT 3 and 4 Pro are probably the pro's SS Ampeg choice these days. I think they sounds nothing like a real SVT, but they do sound good.

Thanks...I borrowed the concept (VT bass ahead of something else) entirely from one of your posts in another thread!!
I can see you're a man of taste and class ;)

Yeah, the VT + any amp will definitely get you about 98% there. For some, that 2% is very important, but I'll definitely use it in a pinch on the road when that SVT/810 I request turns into a GK/Hartke.

The Bass Driver is OK, but the VT is a LOT better. Sansamp would do well by ditching the Bass Driver and making the VT the standard. Then make it programmable and slap a DI on it.

I'd love to try out a 8Pro.

I had a 3Pro. (Nothing SVT about that.)
I had a CL. (It's alright but not a SVT.)
I own a 350. ( Again,NOT a SVT.)
I've had a SVPCL Preamp.(We're getting closer.)

The 8 Pro sounds very interesting BUT I don't have any FIRST hand experance with it.
