I have 1200 dollars to blow i have a jazz bass fretless and i want a ampeg halfstack is there any good head and cab choices? and is there a different bass that would compliment the tones?

Plenty enough $$ to buy a good amp. Take your bass to a shop and start trying them out till you find your match. Don't limit yourself to one brand, there's alot more to choose from.
I would buy a GK 1001 RB II head and an Avatar 410 cab. That killed any Ampeg I have ever owned. Hands down.

Whatever you do, make sure you stay away from the B-2RE or SVT-450H heads...in the long run they will only disappoint and are not representative of the great Ampeg name.
Your $1200 could end up buying you a really nice, used $2400 rig. Unless your limiting your choices to new gear only, you should post your location, it might just trigger someone to turn you on to some smokin deals in your area.
